Paper Plates

Kids love the scarecrows and autumn is the ideal time to craft scarecrow with your preschooler. With a paper plate and some other articles you've already May laying around your house, you and your child can build this business in a bogey time record.
Supplies needed:
Paper plates
Google eyes
Brown construction paper
Orange construction paper
Raffia
Red pipe cleaner
Craft feathers
Scissors
Rubber cement
Glue gun (optional)
Note: Many items above can be replaced by things that you might already have. For example, you can use felt or foam crafts, Instead of building paper or straw or shredded paper instead
raffia. Your child can also draw a face with markers instead of the paste.
To begin, cut several pieces of raffia 3-4 inches long. This will be the hair of the scarecrow. Next glue the raffia to each side edge of the plate, up. The hat will cover the upper edge of the hair. I have chosen to use hot glue for this step and not sticking to my children. The glue hot works the best for the raffia stuck there quickly.
Next use scissors to cut a cap of brown construction paper. You can make a hat shaped like your child would like. If your child is old enough to cut a shape, draw the cap on the paper to him and he cut itself. Then ask your child brush rubber cement on top of the cap and stick it on top of the scarecrow's hair.
After you have hair and hat in place, ask your child when the brush glue eyes and I'll have to paste the eyes. Then cut a small triangle construction paper orange and have your child glue the nose on the face of the scarecrow.
Next cut a red pipe cleaner in half, the shape of your child with half a mouth, then stick him on the scarecrow. Last but not least, ask your child put some glue on the tip of a pen and have him drag a corner of the scarecrow's hat.
That's it! Your child will be so proud of his bogey, he will not be able to wait to show it to everyone!
