Paper Cutters: A Quick Solution for an Impressive Presentation
Presentation is everything. People who create church phone directories, employee manuals, photo albums and even the main dish at that new French restaurant are concerned with presentation. In most cases, what you see is what you get, making what you see pretty important.
There are a number of different office products on the market that can aid consumers in creating professional presentations in the work world, home life, church and school. Laminators, binding machines and paper cutters are among these products. With first impressions being as vital as they are, investing in some or all of these machines is a wise move.
The most prevalent of all office machines is probably the paper trimmer. These are common in schools, small offices and other establishments. Paper trimmers and paper cutters are often confused with one another. Paper trimmers can handle a small volume of work, while paper cutters deal with larger numbers.
Paper cutters and trimmers are both used to cut documents, photos, booklets and other materials into specific sizes. This can be important when cutting a handout for a speech or creating a manual or proposal for a big business meeting. Paper cutters and trimmers are used in schools for everything from art to geometry.
There are a few factors to keep in mind when choosing which paper cutter is right for you:
* The number of pages you want to be able to cut at one time.
* The material you will be cutting.
* The frequency for which you'll be using the paper cutter.
* The amount of room you have to house the paper cutter.
Larger companies tend to own larger cutters because their needs are greater and they tend to have a lot of space to keep such machines. Smaller businesses and schools will sometimes utilize a simple paper trimmer for smaller jobs. There are several main types of paper cutters available:
* Rotary: Rotary paper trimmers use a round blade that slides along a rail to cut paper in a straight line. Rotary trimmers tend to be used in lower volume applications and are ideal for trimming laminated sheets and photographs.
* Guillotine: Guillotine paper cutters are an industrial strength type of cutter. They have a clamp that holds the stack of paper in place. Guillotine cutters are so powerful that they are able to cut up to three inches of paper in one slice.
* Manual: Manual cutters are often considered to be paper trimmers. These are the smaller, hand-operated version of a paper cutter.
* Electric: Electric paper cutters have an automated blade and clamp. While the blade and clamp are adjusted manually, the rest of the work is done by the machine. These are especially useful in settings where a high volume of work needs to be done. All you have to do is set it and forget it!
Presentation is everything in today's aesthetically preoccupied world. This is especially true when it comes to presentation materials. Quality cut paper, well-laminated sheets and properly bound pages can make a world of difference. And the products that are necessary for such projects-paper, blades, coil binding, wire binding, and laminating and binding supplies-can be found at a quality office product manufacturer.
Create stunning presentations with the right tools. Outfit your business, home office, school or church with the necessities that allow you to appear confident and professional. Remember that it's all about first impressions. Never underestimate the power of a professional and well-organized presentation. The benefits will return to you ten-fold.

What To Look For In A Stack Paper Cutter
Everyday online shopping sites get many questions about purchasing equipment. Sometimes these involve stack paper cutters. Most of the time, these purchases are made by a customer who is frustrated with the multiple cuts that they make with their guillotine cutters, and are looking to save time with less cuts. A stack cutter is the perfect option. Stack or ream cutters are perfect for print shops, schools, and large businesses. Shopping for the right stack cutter can be easy if you narrow down what you are actually looking for.
Cut Length
Typically most stack cutters are designed for either 8.5" x 11" or 11" x 17" sized paper. Most of the time, the maximum width will have extra room to accommodate for adjustments. For example, if you are looking for a paper cutter for your 8.5" x 11" paper, you will want to find one that is around 11-1/2" to 12" for the maximum cut width.
Sheet Cut Capacity
This is the most important aspect of a stack paper cutter. The sheet cut capacity will be the maximum number of 20 lb sheets that the cutter can cut. This capacity ranges between 120 to 800. This is sometimes calculated by cut width. Cut width is the actual height of the stack of papers. This can be a better estimate as users do not typically cut hundreds of sheets of paper by counting.
Safety Features
Cutting multiple sheets of paper can be very dangerous when it comes to the blade. Two handed operation means that both hands need to be utilized in order to cut. This can prevent injuries while not making it possible for an idle hand to be resting by the blade. Other popular safety features include safety case, and locking blade.
Minimum Cut
While most of the cuts that are made with a stack paper cutters are large, there are some cutting operations that require a narrow cut. For example, if you are cutting bookmarks, you want to be sure that the stack cutter you are looking for can make cuts smaller than 2". This is the minimum amount that can be cut off from the stack. Not all cutters have this spec listed. Call your rep for more information.
Cutting Base
Stack paper cutters will be equipped with either a wood or metal base. Ideally, there should be measurement guides printed on the base in easy to read increments. Additionally, every stack cutter should have a clamp or backstop attached to the base, that can be used to create a guide for cutting. This will save time when it comes to cutting multiple reams of paper that will be cut the same size.
Optional Features
Some cutter will have additional features to aid in accurate cutting. Though not always necessary, laser guides, and stands can make it easy to cut the stacks of paper.
Hopefully these tips will aid in choosing the right stack paper cutter for your business, or office. If you do not need to cut at least 120 pages each time, then a guillotine or rotary trimmer will probably do the job that you need.
